Aeronautical Engineering

In this Engineering article, you will learn about the Aeronautical Engineering with the skills and the eligibility criteria required for the Aeronautical Engineering. Here, we will also discuss the advantages of being an Aeronautical Engineer.
Aeronautical engineering
In today's world, it is one of the most popular fields for students and engineers.

What is Aeronautical Engineering?

Aeronautical Engineering is the branch of engineering which trains an engineer for designing, testing, analyzing, and manufacturing flight-capable machines and aircraft. The flight-capable machines consist of drones, jets, satellites, helicopters, missiles, and spacecraft. This also helps the engineers to maintain and design the various components of aircraft.

Aeronautical Engineering is the in-depth knowledge of Aeronautics. The word ‘Aeronautics’ comes from two Greek words, ‘Aer’ and ‘Nautike’. The Aer word means Air, and the Nautike word means Navigation of the Air.

The candidates of Aeronautical not only create the flight machines but also can create energy-efficient machines in the market with the help of their aviation skills. The applicants make sure that the machines satisfy the environmental and safety measures. They inspect the portion and also make changes in the portion if required.

In INDIA, few colleges and universities provide the course of Aeronautical engineering.
Those candidates who are pursuing aeronautical engineering are specialized in the following various fields:
    • Aerodynamics and Fluid dynamics
    • Thermodynamics
    • Propulsion
    • Automatic Control system and Navigational guidance
    • Instrumentation and Communication

Skills Required for the Aeronautical Engineering

Following are the various skills that are required for every candidate who is pursuing Aeronautical engineering:
1. Speed and accuracy of the candidate must be good.
2. Candidates must have strong analytical and mathematical skills.
3. Candidate should be creative and has the ability to perform same thing in more than two ways.
4. Candidates must have a presentation, leadership, and communication skills.
5. He/she must be able to work in a team but also have leadership qualities.

Eligibility Criteria for Aeronautical Engineering

The applicant or candidate who wants to take admission in Aeronautical engineering must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
    • The main eligibility criteria for Aeronautical engineering is that the applicant must qualify 10+2 with a minimum of 70-75% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidate with having Computer Science subject instead of chemistry is also eligible to take admission. Applicants with the equivalent qualification are also eligible to take admission.
    • In INDIA, if you want to get admission to college for an aeronautical engineering course, you are required to pass 10+2 with science and JEE Main exam. And, if you want to get admission to IIT and NIIT, you have to pass the JEE Advance exam with a good score.
    • Those applicants who have successfully completed their bachelor's degree can take admission in Postgraduate.
    • Those candidates who qualified their B.Sc. with PCM are eligible to get admission into the second year of the Aeronautical Engineering Program.
    • Those applicants who cleared the GATE exams can get admission to top institutions like NIIT and IIT for a Master's degree in Aeronautical engineering.

Advantages of the Aeronautical Engineering

Following are the five advantages which describe why you should select Aeronautical engineering for your future growth:

1. Good Salary Package

It is the first and the biggest advantage because the companies which make airplanes and aircraft give a high salary package to aeronautical engineers all over the world. Graduate students of aeronautical engineering can get awesome salaries.

2. Fast-Growing Field in the Commercial and Military sector

Aeronautics is a fast and vast growing field in the commercial as well as military sectors.
Aeronautical engineers build aircraft which have specialized features for military transport. And, these engineers also use their deep knowledge for better air travel in the commercial sector.

3. Practicality and Creativity

The Study of Aeronautics will provide practical and creative skills through which you can create new technologies and innovations in aircraft. Aeronautical Engineering is the best option for you if you like to learn new things daily and perform practicals.

4. Wide Career

Another best advantage of aeronautical engineering is that there are multiple career options. You can work in Defence and Armed Forces, aviation departments, or in private and government organizations. Along with this, these engineers also have a wide scope in abroad than in India.

5. Traveling Free

Suppose, you are an Aeronautical engineer, then you can travel in aircraft for free.

Jobs for Aeronautical Engineer

In India, a qualified aeronautical engineer can get a good job in both the private and government sector. Some top recruiters of Aeronautical engineering are mentioned below:
1. Ministry of Civil Aviation
2. Indian Airlines
3. Max Aerospace & Aviation Private Limited
4. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)
5. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO)
6. Armed forces
7. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)
8. Air India

Salary of an Aeronautical Engineer

In India, an Aeronautical engineer can easily get the salary between 5 lakh to 6 lakh per year in private sector. And, the salary in the government sector for the aeronautical engineer is determined on the basis of a specific post.
The future scope of Aeronautical engineering in abroad is good. They get the initial package of $70000 to $1,00,000 per year.
